Week 4 Rankings: Tight Ends

To reiterate, I hate tight ends. Unless you have Graham, Gronk or Gonzalez this year, you'll be pulling your hair out week to week figuring out not how to be right, but how not to be wrong. Also, Kyle Rudolph is one more 3-yard hail mary away from making me rip every little hair out of my head.

Unrelated: this.

Enjoy!

Rank Tight End Opp. Comments
Jimmy Graham@GBGreen Bay in the middle of the pack vs. TEs. He's your #1 regardless. Never doubt him, never sit him.
Rob Gronkowski@BUFDespite Buffalo playing well against the position, he's overdue for a monster Gronk-sized game now.
Vernon Davis@NYJNo Revis (I've said it a lot, but that's how much he changes things) means more focus on WRs. Davis still SF's top target.
Tony GonzalezCARHave him ahead of Pettigrew by a hair because of the level Matt Ryan is playing at. Too reliable to sit against anyone.
Brandon PettigrewMINVikings 11th in the league against fantasy tight ends. With so much focus on Megatron and Leshoure, he should flourish.
Antonio Gates@KCGates is in for a HUGE stretch if he stays healthy. Bunch of terrible-against-tight-end teams coming up including this one.
Owen DanielsTENI have him a lot higher than experts but Titans will focus on stopping the run and they're the worst against TEs.
Jason WittenCHIChicago giving up the 12th-most fantasy points to tight ends and while Witten is struggling, he's trustworthy.
Kyle Rudolph@DETHe's a high-priority redzone target for Ponder now and Detroit second-worst against tight ends.
Dennis PittaCLEStill pulling in high-volume targets. Flacco loves him and he's a clear first option over Ed Dickson.
Jermichael FinleyNOMr. Inconsistent strikes again! Put up next-to-nothing numbers last week. Saints surprisingly good against TEs.
Martellus Bennett@PHIHe's been shockingly reliable and with Nicks going in and out he'll keep getting looks. Philly great vs. TE, though.
Fred Davis@TBComing off a big week and Tampa will forget to cover guys down the field from time to time.
Brent CelekNYGG-Men are second-best in the NFL in defending tight ends, but the Eagles are struggling, so he may be the only option.
Jermaine Gresham@JACFinally scored last week, but Dalton throwing more and more and he did score against the Jaguars last year.
Jacob TammeOAKOakland doesn't give up much to the TE, but it is Peyton Manning and you can't count out any of his weapons.
Marcedes LewisCINThough Gabbert doesn't get to throw much at all, let alone to Lewis, Cincy is pretty terrible in the middle of the field.
Anthony Fasano@ARISometimes, the Cardinals pass rush hurts their ability to cover the middle, and Tannehill trusts Fasano.
Scott ChandlerNEThe Pats are experts at the TE position. If they know how to utilize it to perfection, they can cover it as well.
Greg Olsen@ATLAtlanta's defense is too good to let slower guys like Olsen just run around uncovered. Look elsewhere.
Jared Cook@HOUHe's still hurting and the Texans are the league's best in covering tight ends.
Ed DicksonCLEHe's become the clear-cut second string behind Pitta. Chances remain, but much, much fewer than last season.
Joel DreessenOAKI'd advise against playing him, but hey he did score last week somehow.
Dallas ClarkWSHTerrible option at this point but Redskins give up the second-most fantasy points to tight ends so far.
Rob HouslerMIAThe product of FAU has been slowly developing a connection with Kevin Kolb so could be a surprise.
