| Rank | Runningback | Opp. | Comments |
|---|---|---|---|
Maurice Jones-Drew | @IND | MJD has eclipsed 100 yards 7 times in 8 games against the Colts since 2008. Easy matchup, no vulture, perfect situation.
Arian Foster | @DEN | Denver is doing a great job this season against the run, but Foster averages 164 total yards in 5 career games on grass.
Ray Rice | NE | Harbaugh and the Ravens do what's right and go back to plugging the offense through Rice against a stingy Pats defense.
CJ Spiller | @CLE | Leads the league in rushing yards after two weeks and they're not letting Fitzpatrick throw much. You're not benching him.
Marshawn Lynch | GB | The Packers can be run on and, come on, it's not like Pete Carroll is going to let Russell Wilson throw against that secondary.
Michael Bush | STL | Rams currently giving up 100 total yards and TD per game to RBs. With Forte likely out, Bush is a great RB1 play this week.
LeSean McCoy | @ARI | Against a sneaky good Cards defense, the Eagles will have to go back what worked last year and run, run, run.
Trent Richardson | BUF | Finally came into his own last week and showed off why he was worth such a high draft pick.
Darren McFadden | PIT | Though the rushing yards won't be there against this Steelers team, McFadden still leads the league in receptions.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis | @WSH | Redskins just lost Kerrigan and Orakpo for the season and the secondary is still great, Law Firm has a great Sunday.
Alfred Morris | CIN | Shanahan compared Morris to Terrell Davis. For veteran fantasy players, that means bench trouble, but it could be good.
Adrian Peterson | SF | It's the worst matchup you could ask for as a Peterson owner but it's STILL PETERSON. Never bench him, never doubt him.
Ryan Mathews | ATL | I'm sure Norv Turner is going to overuse him since he's missed having a real RB (cough, Ronnie Brown).
Darren Sproles | KC | Outside of Graham, he's still Brees's favorite target. He's put up double-digit points in both weeks with no carries last week!
DeMarco Murray | TB | I'm lower than most on him because Tampa gives up so many fantasy points to receivers that he may not get the touches.
Reggie Bush | NYJ | Bush is on a hot streak and while this is a tough matchup, I don't see Tannehill throwing too, too much. He'll have volume.
Stevan Ridley | @BAL | The Pats have run more than expected already, who's to say they don't try and run through the Ravens?
Frank Gore | @MIN | Really don't like playing Gore this week, Vikings will do a good job against the run, Niners will throw more than usual.
Doug Martin | @DAL | Dallas front will fix a lot of the mistake they made from last week against Lynch inSeattle. Expect struggles Sunday.
Donald Brown | JAC | Jags giving up the most points to RBs and Brown has nobody taking away carries. Most have him at flex at best, he's an RB1.
Jamaal Charles | @NO | Only thing keeping Charles from being higher is that the Saints could hang 40 in the 1st and Charles would be useless.
Willis McGahee | HOU | He's looked great so far this season and while the Texans run, they won't run away with it. He'll be good as long as it's close.
Andre Brown | @CAR | Filling in for Bradshaw and Coughlin hates David Wilson. Panthers won't run up the score, Brown will stay involved.
Michael Turner | @SD | Coming off a decent game, Turner's productivity seems to be decreasing by the game. Count on a TD, but not on yards.
Kevin Smith | @TEN | Still in the mix despite Leshoure's debut. Team said Leshoure should see around 15 carries, so still a safe play.
Mikell Leshoure | @TEN | See above. He's still a good upside play since 15 carries against a sponge-like Tennessee defense is more than enough.
Chris Johnson | DET | Don't feel bad benching the guy at this point. Lions have a beatable secondary, so look for the Titans to throw.
Cedric Benson | @SEA | Looked much better last week than before. He's a startable flex option at the least. Tough runner will get past Seahawks D.
Steven Jackson | @CHI | He's still ailing and they'll likely have to throw a lot. Not buying the great-on-grass consistency for this game.
Mark Ingram | KC | Seems to be the feature runner and no matter how well Pierre Thomas plays, Ingram still gets the goal-line carries.
Ben Tate | @DEN | Tough defensive front but Ben Tate is all about the big play and doesn't need the volume or the matchup.
Pierre Thomas | KC | The touches come at a minimum but the yards-per-carry occasionally provides for a 100-yard game like in Week 2.
Dexter McCluster | @NO | They'll have to throw and he's more a receiver than an RB at this point. Hope for Week 1-volume again.
Jonathan Dwyer | Table Cell | He looked really "blah" last week but with Mendenhall still hurt and Redman struggling, he's worth a try
Shonn Greene | Table Cell | Fins haven't allowed a 100-yard rusher since midway through last season. If he's your best option, you're in trouble.
Peyton Hillis | Table Cell | If Charles goes down again or is limited, could see significant workload.
Curtis Brinkley | Table Cell | If team goes light with Mathews's carries, Brinkley could get short-yardage (even goal-line) work.
Kendall Hunter | Table Cell | I truly believe the Vikings will contain the 49ers run game, but Hunter has more chance than Gore to break one off.
Beanie Wells | Table Cell | The Cardinals hate Beanie. They hate running. They shuold especially hate running against the Eagles. Good luck with him.
Isaac Redman | Table Cell | Still seeing his share of carries so there's always a chance, but look elsewhere as Steelers will be throwing with ease.
DeAngelo Williams | Table Cell | I hate the idea of having to play a Panthers runningback that's not named Cam Newton, but if you have to, he's a solid flex.
Jacquizz Rodgers | Table Cell | Since Turner is slowly declining, Rodgers should be seeing more and more action as the weeks go by.
Shaun Draughn | Table Cell | Coudl see playing time with Hillis if Charles is sheltered since McCluster only lines up wide.
Jonathon Stewart | Table Cell | Still ailing and I already hate Panthers backs. Williams will see more action. Look for a better option.
Bilal Powell | Table Cell | If Sparano feels Greene isn't doing enough, look for Powell to come in and try and spark the offense against a tough run D.
Ryan Williams | Table Cell | Don't trust him now. Hold on if you want, but a couple of carries and a fumble per game really do nothing for a fantasy team.
Chris Ogbonnaya | Table Cell | After Trent Richardson does his damage, Ogbonnaya could see many snaps as the team protects T-Rich's playing time.
Lamar Miller | Table Cell | See above but substitute Reggie Bush for Trent Richardson and Miller for Ogbonnaya.
David Wilson | Table Cell | Coughlin hates him, Giants fans hate him, and judging by the tears, he hates himself. If you couldn't get Brown, steer clear.
Joique Bell | Table Cell | You never know with Leshoure's uncertainty, but probably won't get as much playing time as last week.

Week 3 Rankings: Runningbacks
Here's the runningbacks. I'm way up on Green-Ellis after the 'Skins lost two very good starting linebackers. Also high on Donald Brown against a league-worst-against-the-run Jags defense. Agree, don't agree, just don't be a rankings slave. Remember, these are my thoughts, guidelines for you. Enjoy them, soak them up, marinate in them.
