Week 6 Rankings: Tight Ends

Nothing makes sense. Nothing is logical. AND NOTHING NEEDS TO BE, IT'S FOOTBALL.

Antonio Gates is finally healthy for more than one week in a row and he's not even getting thrown to. Vernon Davis became a perennial runner-up for the Mr. Inconsistent award (Finley is the mainstay) over the past few years, but now he's a week-to-week stud. Gronk is starting look a little disappointing. Jason Witten is dropping passes and I'm still not completely sure I know what Kyle Rudolph looks like. Again, logic is lacking.

Regardless, I still have to throw together 25 names, no matter how little I want to. Top ten are easy, after that my eyes start to glaze over. I hope for your sake you're not stuck with any of the guys after about 15. Definitely work on fixing that if that's the case. Saints, Panthers, Jags, Bears on bye. Enjoy!

RankTight EndOppComments
Tony GonzalezOAKHe's the best fantasy TE in the league so far and Oakland gives up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing TEs.
Vernon DavisNYGHe gets far too many targets from Alex Smith to worry about matchups.
Rob Gronkowski@SEAGronk is overdue for a breakout game. Why not in a game that doesn't make sense for him to break out in?
Heath Miller@TENTitans the worst against fantasy TEs. Big Ben loves to throw to him.
Kyle Rudolph@WSHRedskins just suck it up against every position except RB. If Ponder needs to throw, it'll go to Rudolph.
Antonio GatesDENI normally hate on the guy, but there's now way they waste a whole (semi)healthy season with limited targets, right?
Fred DavisMINThey'll have to throw against a stingy Vikings D and they're prone to giving up points to TEs.
Brent CelekDETLions give up the fifth-most points to opposing tight ends and he's Vick's most reliable option.
Martellus Bennett@SFFull week of practice in him and the Niners surprisingly give up the tenth-most points to TEs.
Jason Witten@BALHe's more dependable than the rest of the guys on here but the Ravens cover the tight ends, well, tightly.
Aaron Hernandez@SEAShould be making more than a cameo on Sunday and Seattle has yet to face an offense this complex.
Owen DanielsGBGets redzone looks here and there but this is a running team and he's a clear third receiving option (after Johnson, Foster)
Jared CookPITSteelers give up a decent amount to TEs. Cook is a nice athletic target for Hasselbeck to hit as he's being crushed.
Brandon Pettigrew@PHIPhilly one of the best against the position but Pettigrew is a solid 6 or 7 at the very least every week
Dennis PittaDALThe targets certainly cooled off in the past few weeks but Flacco won't be able to throw much to WRs.
Jermichael Finley@HOUHasn't practiced yet this week and he's already really inconsistent. Scary play. And not the good "scary."
Jacob Tamme@SDPeyton likes throwing to him, especially near the endzone.
Coby Fleener@NYJSaw the chemistry pay off between him and Luck last week. It'll continue.
Brandon Myers@ATLPalmer will get a favorable target back and they'll probably have to throw. A lot.
Jermaine Gresham@CLECleveland's ranked third-best against TEs. Don't be fooled. They haven't really played one yet.
Dustin KellerINDSanchez gets his favorite target back from injury and with his job on the line, he'll be throwing a lot.
Scott Chandler@ARI'Zona rarely gives up anything to TEs but if the Bills manage to get to the redzone, he leads team in RZ targets.
Zach MillerNEPats give up a ton to the position and if there was ever a week for the Miller signing to pay off, it'd be this one.
Joel Dreessen@SDHas a TD in each of the past three games without eclipsing 40 yards.
Rob HouslerBUFHousler is slowly proving his worth with reliable hands and flashes of athleticism.
